ShotNotes works with Adobe Premiere Pro 2023 and newer versions.

There is a known Adobe bug in Premiere Pro 2025/2026 that can occasionally cause the timecode of newly created entries to be slightly off. Adobe is expected to fix this in a future update.

Due to a bug in Premiere Pro 2025/2026, the recorded timecode for an entry may occasionally be slightly inaccurate. This is an Adobe issue rather than a ShotNotes issue.

The amount of offset can depend on how zoomed out the timeline is when the entry is created. Zooming further into the timeline typically reduces the offset. If needed, the timecode can be manually adjusted.

Yes. When creating an entry, you can include the current playhead timecode. ShotNotes automatically places a marker on the timeline so the entry stays linked to that frame.

If edits move markers later in the project, you can sync entries to the marker’s new position using the Sync or Sync All buttons.

Yes. ShotNotes allows you to copy timecode from one sequence and paste it into an entry in another sequence. The pasted timecode becomes a clickable link that will open the referenced sequence and jump directly to that frame.

Notes are used for comments, feedback, and references within the project.

Tasks include the same features but also allow you to track time with start and stop timers. Multiple timed sessions can be recorded for a single task.

Yes. When a task timer is running, ShotNotes logs certain editing events, such as switching sequences or selecting items in the timeline.

Premiere Pro provides limited event data, so the activity log offers a general overview rather than a detailed history of every editing action.

Premiere Pro internally treats some editing actions (like moving clips) as deleting and re-adding items. Because of this, the activity log may show more “delete” and “add” events than expected even during normal editing.

Why don’t the arrow keys work in the text editor?

Arrow keys are captured by Premiere Pro for timeline navigation, so plugin panels cannot access them. To move the cursor in the text editor, you can use the mouse or delete text using backspace.

Premiere Pro captures the standard undo keyboard shortcut, so it does not apply to text inside the panel. Instead, use the Undo and Redo buttons located in the lower menu bar of the ShotNotes panel.

Yes. ShotNotes includes a search feature that allows you to find entries across the entire project. You can also filter results by sequence, color, timecode, or completion status.

Yes. ShotNotes supports exporting project data in multiple formats:

  • JSON for backups or transferring entries between systems
  • CSV time tracking reports for spreadsheets, billing, or documentation
