As creative software and operating systems advance, maintaining compatibility with older plugins has become increasingly difficult. To focus on developing new , high-performance tools, we’ve retired some legacy plugins—such as ToonIt, Primatte, and Knoll Light Factory—that were built for now outdated platforms like Apple Aperture and older versions of After Effects and Photoshop.
While these plugins are no longer sold or supported, existing license holders may still attempt to use them, though functionality
is not guaranteed. Keep Reading to learn more and access the download links!
In 2009, we sold some of our older products to Red Giant. Please contact them for info on Text Anarchy, 3D Assistants, Psunami,
ToonIt for Video, Anarchy Toolbox, Geomancy and other pre-2009 video products.
ToonIt is still compatible on Windows and Intel Macs, but not on Silicon-native versions (Mac M-series) of Photoshop. If you have a Silicon (M-series) Mac, you will need to run Photoshop in Rosetta (click the 3 dots below Photoshop in the Apps section of the Creative Cloud app, and select “Open in Rosetta”).
Also, when installing ToonIt on Mac, you will need to Control-click the installer and then select Open from the menu — otherwise Mac OS may block the install due to this being an old installer.
Primatte was designed for doing greenscreen work and we only sold the plugin for Adobe Photoshop. However it is available for video apps from Red Giant/Maxon.
The last installer (below) should work on Windows and Intel Macs. It’s possible it’ll work on Silicon Macs using Rosetta but this has not been tested as we no longer support Primatte.
Red Giant took over distribution of this plugin in 2010 – they became responsible for the product’s sales and support. Red Giant then got acquired by Maxon, and they officially deprecated KLF in 2023: “Knoll Light Factory was discontinued as of VFX 2023.3.0 … no future support or updates will be provided”. The last installers we made for it are below but they are very old and unlikely to work in new versions of Photoshop.
Microcosm is a lossless codec for Quicktime that we developed until 2008. The last installer only works on Windows. So if you have files compressed with Microcosm you’ll need to decompress them on Windows and then save them compressed with some other codec.
