If you’ve ever shot a sunrise, a night-to-day transition, a cityscape, or anything lit by inconsistent sources, you’ve probably encountered flicker. And if you’ve tried to fix it manually, you know how frustrating (or impossible) that can be.
Flicker Free was originally developed to fix Time Lapse videos. As such, it does a great job deflickering time lapse. It’s as easy as selecting a preset!
One common type of flicker in video footage is rolling bands caused by lights being out of sync with the camera. This can be caused by shooting NTSC footage in Europe (for example) but most commonly it’s caused by LED lights.

Video shot in slow motion often have problems with flicker. It’s common that light fluctuations that you can’t see with the naked eye show up when shot at high frame rates (slomo) like 240fps or 480 or even higher. The lights may be of poor quality or the electrical current may fluctuate more than normal and the resulting video will need to be deflickered.
So we get asked a lot about how to fix flicker in slow motion footage. In this post I’ll discuss using Flicker Free to deflicker the video.
