Final Cut Pro X is moving to a new plugin architecture (FxPlug4) with the latest release. For Intel Macs, the current plugins (FxPlug3) will work just fine for the foreseeable future. If you're on Apple Silicon, you need a version of our plugins that support FxPlug4. And even on Intel Macs, Apple may eventually drop support for FxPlug 3. But that's a ways off.
We're busy working on the FxPlug4 versions of our plugins, but we also want to support Metal, Apple's new GPU architecture that is also needed for Apple Silicon. So we're trying to roll both technologies into one update. We expect to have plugins that support both Metal and FxPlug4 before the end of the year. In the case of Flicker Free, much sooner. Hopefully we'll have at least a beta of Flicker Free, Beauty Box Video, and Samurai Sharpen by early December
