Digital Anarchy Releases Texture Anarchy Filters for Sophisticated Seamless Textures in Photoshop

Three New Photoshop Filters use KPT Interface Design to Redefine How Textures are Created

San Francisco, CA — August 11, 2003 —

Digital Anarchy, a leading provider of cost-effective special effects software for Adobe, Apple and Discreet products, today announced the availability of Texture Anarchy for Photoshop. Texture Anarchy includes three plugins designed to create infinite, seamless textures and borders.

Texture Anarchy provides an easy way of creating complex, sophisticated textures that can look organic, artificial, or surreal. Graphic designers who want textures for backgrounds, 3D programs, photo objects, or other design needs will find Texture Anarchy to be a suite of powerful, intuitive plugins.

"Everyone that was part of this product also worked on the KPT products from MetaCreations, and it shows," said Jim Tierney, president and founder of Digital Anarchy. "The interface is definitely designed to encourage experimentation, but at the same time there's the necessary control for professional designers that need to get jobs finished on a deadline."

In all three filters, the user has complete control over the textures. An easy to use user interface provides a powerful front end for experimentation and creation. Four modifiable light sources, a complete gradient editor, and 38 different base noise types allow an endless number of textures. The textures are generated mathematically using sophisticated fractal algorithms. This allows the texture to be scaled up or down indefinitely and used at any resolution.

Redefine Texture Creation in Photoshop.

Texture Anarchy Explorer is a highly flexible and diverse tool for texture creation. It is basically a texture laboratory, giving users 38 different noise types that can be layered on top of each other and combined in any way imaginable. Users can apply lights, gradients, blend modes, and opacity controls to add depth and color. The textures that are created have no limits on size, resolution, or complexity.

Tiling Texture Anarchy creates textures that can be seamlessly tiled. This is highly useful for people working with 3D programs, games, backgrounds or any other medium that requires complex textures at a small file size. 'The Tiler' has all the noise types, lights, and other features of Texture Anarchy Explorer, but contains more rigid transformation controls due to the seamless nature of the results. It is the most powerful way of creating seamless, tiling, render-effective textures in Photoshop.

Edge Anarchy uses textures to create distressed or ornamental borders around the edges of images or graphics. As with the textures in the other filters, these borders are scalable to any resolution or size. There is a wealth of controls for adjusting the way the border interacts with the image. Whether users are adding a natural, distressed, or artistic border, Edge Anarchy provides an easy way of dressing up an image.

Texture Anarchy ships with hundreds of presets for completed textures, borders, lights, and gradients. The presets can be used as is, for a quick solution to a design idea, or as a seed for generating dozens of variations with a single click of the Mutation controls. The Digital Anarchy Web site will support user trading of preset files in the near future.

Pricing & Availability.

Texture Anarchy is available now for a special introductory price of USD $129, regular price $149. The plugin set is compatible with Photoshop 3.0 and higher, Photoshop Elements, and Jasc PaintShop Pro and will run on Mac OS 9 and X and Windows 98/2000/XP.
