Control over blending.

In Texture Anarchy, you have control over Blend modes. A 'Blend mode' decides how the Bump Wells interact with each other. Blend looks at the Bump Well above it, then calculates any reaction between that layer and the layer below it.

Our original 'Cracked Paint' texture, with a Blend mode set to Normal.

Results in a egg-yolk texture when Blend mode is changed to Extrapolate.

Make one texture into many.

The effect by a Blend produced depends on two factors: One, the Blend Type that's chose. Two, the grayscale values of the two layers being blended. A Blend modes has a enormous capabilities, potential and impact. Use it for good. ;)

The Blend is not dependent on whether the mask layer in between is active – it will show a blending effect if one can be produced.
Blend can also ‘jump’ layers if the middle one is turned off.

Results in a duller eggshell yellow when Blend mode is changed to Screen.

A more useful camouflage texture is created using the Darken Blend mode.
