CyberMotion, a Los Angeles motion graphics design studio, was founded by Trish and Chris Meyer. The studio specializes in high-impact, multi-layered 2D and 3D graphics for video and film, pieces which are often tightly integrated with music. The Meyers used Geomancy in a video created for the introduction of the Isuzu Ascender SUV at US auto shows.

Trish used the plugin GridSquares as a matte for still images of the vehicle. Then she mixed the matted images with displaced ones, and processed original images to create a sense of depth. |

Steve Ogden, 2002

Steve Ogden is freelance motion graphics designer. He uses Geomancy for
creating patterns and textures that give have both technical and organic
qualities. One project is a title sequence for a long-form commercial
for Natural Advantage, a skin care product. Steve said, "I tend to pre-render and blend my Geomancy layers when using them for
texture creation.
"If you know your basic movements, you can set up
GridSquares in a few pleasing configurations for that scene then
pre-render with alphas. Reimport, throw in some gradient ramps and blend. I
find the result is more rich and organic looking (and faster) than multiple
fx layers."

Another of Steve's projects is an ambient
identity animation for a lifesciences company. "On the Medex example, the large pillows of color were created with a
particle effect, the white lines with grid squares.
"The parameters of the
grid on which the particles operate were duplicated in the GridSquares
plug-in and the two effects lined up surprisingly well. To get around a
limitation of the particle effect, I built this sequence in reverse, then
time stretched the final render -100%."
